This episode is the second hour of my last broadcast show. There is no real theme to this one. These are just some great straight-up swinging jazz tunes. We hear from jazz greats Louis Hayes, Herbie Hancock, Tom Harrell, Steve Davis and Lee Morgan. Also on this podcast are up-and-coming jazz artists Theo Hill, David Gibson, Curtis Brothers and Yoko Miwa. Enjoy.

We pay tribute to the life and music of Horace Silver, who passed away this week. An important and influential musician, Horace helped found the hard-bop movement with Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers. His music was firmly rooted in the blues, with a hard driving swing. His compositions are some of the greatest jazz standards, and we will hear from Horace himself as well as covers from Jimmy Smith and Greg Abate. We also get a phone call from Raynel Frasier to tell us about her Umoja Jazz Series of free concerts in Hartford.
