You all know Cannonball, Monk and Blakey. The last two had birthdays last week and we celebrate those. It's likely you haven't heard Sarah Hanahan, a senior at Hartford's Jackie McLean Instute. After listening to this podcast you now have. You will want to hear more. The podcast begins with a classic rendition of Autumn Leaves and other great Cannonball tracks. This leads to a Monk set with the master himself, and covers by Helen Sung and Branford. It is Art Blakey's 99th birth anniversary so we will hear from him. Then Sarah walks into our broadcast studio.

In these days of political chaos and division, truth does matter. We are reminded of that through music from Noah Baerman (Satyagrahi) and Kamasi Washington (Truth) at the center of this podcast. Those tunes are sandwiched between classic jazz from Miles and Blakey, and a jazz/fusion set featuring Haque, Mahavishnu and new from Chick/Gadd.
